Nancy travel to take on Lyon at Stade des Lumières on Wednesday night as they look to continue what has been a pleasing return to top-flight action this campaign.

In recent times, Lyon have been a side strongly associated with the upper-rungs of the Ligue 1 table having finished inside the top-3 in three of the last four seasons; however, despite their current standing of 4th, they’re already appearing cut adrift from the three teams in front of them and are now 12 points behind Nice. Even at this stage, and with a game in hand, such a gap looks as though it might be very tough to bridge.

From a betting point of view, this fixture appeals as one where it might just pay to take on the hosts in one way or another. However, rather than backing against a home win, the bet that stands out is ‘Both Teams to Score’.

Straight away it would be easy for punters to discount Nancy here based on the fact that they’ve failed to score in 64% of their away matches this season, but they ended a run of three defeats when scoring twice to beat Nantes away from home last time out and should come here with added confidence. Talking of confidence, there probably isn’t too much of it bouncing around the home dressing room at the moment with Lyon failing to win any of their last three fixtures (all-competitions).

From a goals point of view, although they’ve scored in 100% of their home fixtures this season, Les Gones have only kept four clean sheets and have now gone five matches on the spin without shutting out their opposition, including their last two at home.

It is fair to say that Lyon, both on paper and on their exploits so far this season, are the stronger of the two sides so it would be a big surprise if they failed to find the net in this one. But, at the same time, the visitors certainly shouldn’t be discounted in an attacking sense. Since they come here after an improve forward-showing last time out, coupled with the fact that the hosts been wobbling somewhat at the back lately, Nancy are also fancied to register a goal.

In a match where Lyon will no doubt be heavily backed to win, at the prices, ‘Both Teams to Score’ is a viable alternative.
