Wednesday night’s FA Cup replay sees Champions League chasers Manchester City host Championship promotion hopefuls Huddersfield Town following a 0-0 draw at the John Smith’s Stadium just over a week ago.

After their goalless affair at Huddersfield, Man City were involved in one of the most thrilling Champions League matches of all time as they managed to record a 5-3 victory over Monaco in the first knockout round of the competition.

This performance against the French side epitomised Pep Guardiola’s side this season as they attacked with real flair and potency but failed to defend in any sort of organised fashion. It is no surprise that City have the seventh-worst defensive record in the Premier League so far this campaign.

City have been impressive at home in the last few matches and have won five of their last six at the Etihad in all competitions. However, overall they have dropped far too many points on home turf in the Premier League this season and have only taken 25 from 12 games – lower than both Burnley and West Bromwich Albion. Furthermore, they have kept just one clean sheet at home in all competitions since 17th September 2016.

Huddersfield put in a magnificent performance to hold Manchester City to a 0-0 draw in the initial match, especially when you consider that the Terriers had weakened their team. They are the most in-form team in the Championship at the moment with 19 points from their last eight and just one loss in all competitions since 28th November 2016.

Manager David Wagner has brought an exciting and attacking style to his side which means that the majority of his side’s matches contain a fair few goals. Additionally, both teams have scored in five of their last six Championship matches.

The Terriers are decent on the road with 27 points taken from 17 league games. They went on a bad run of five defeats in six away matches from September to November but have since recovered to lose just one of their last nine away in all competitions.

Man City are the favourites here for obvious reasons and I expect them to come out on top. However, they may weaken their side again, putting their defence under pressure which gives Huddersfield a great chance of scoring. As previously mentioned, City are defensively poor at home. ‘Manchester City to Win & Both Teams to Score’ is definitely a bet to go for at 19/10.
