Although Manchester City are still one of the form teams in the league and the league leaders, dropping points to Tottenham and Southampton over their last six games has put the pressure on.

Preliminary review and match prediction for Manchester City vs Manchester United

Manchester City’s lead at the top could be cut to just three points by the time these sides face off on Sunday, adding pressure to what will already be a tense derby day atmosphere.

Despite dropping just five points out of their last 18 possible, this is all it has taken to allow Liverpool back into the title race after their poor run over Christmas.

City will be keen to get off to a good start here after an early goal for Tottenham in their last home match set the tempo for what ended up being a dramatic 3-2 win for Spurs, while last time out it took until the 82nd minute to break a deadlock away to struggling Everton.

The Cityzens will have Champions League football in midweek, but after their 5-0 victory in the first leg over Sporting Lisbon they can put that to the back of their minds and field their strongest possible team.
