Novak Djokovic in emphatic form
After a wonderful season, world number one Novak Djokovic looks keen on ending the year on a high. Certainly, he showed that in his first match of the Nitto ATP Tour Finals after beating Casper Ruud in straight sets. Despite holding off some resilience from the Norwegian in the first set (7-6), Djokovic took control in the second and finished it 6-2.
To point out, in the first set the world number one served 62%. However, a significant increase in his first serve percentage to 95% allowed the Serb not to face any breakpoints in the second set. Also, Djokovic broke Ruud’s serve twice in the second set by returning 35% of Ruud’s 1st serve. Moreover, in all of the second set, Djokovic committed just five unforced errors.

Andrey Rublev with a great start
Like his opponent, Andrey Rublev had a winning start to his 2021 ATP Tour Finals campaign. In fact, the world number five entered the match against Tsitsipas as the underdog. Nevertheless, the Russian somehow pulled off a great win in his quest to reach the semi-finals. Markedly, it was one of the best performances of the year by Rublev beating the world number four 2-0.
To point out, Rublev had an amazing service game winning a stunning 90% of the points behind his first serve. As a result, the world number five didn’t face any breakpoints on his serve. In return, Rublev broke Tsitsipas’s serve once in each set to settle the match in straight sets. Now the 22-year-old faces Djokovic whom he never played before and needs to maintain his form.

Novak Djokovic vs Andrey Rublev Prediction
Novak Djokovic is the overwhelming favorite to win this match with odds of 1.22 at William Hill. Surely, the Serb’s dominance throughout the year in men’s tennis will play a big part to boost his confidence. Moreover, with the stats he had in his first game, Novak is here to win.
We need to check other markets to choose our bet. Notably, William Hill is offering 1.95 for the Serb to win in straight sets. While that seems very likely to happen, however, Rublev played so well in his first match and might get more out of the match.
But Djokovic is the world’s best returner and will put the Russian’s serve under pressure especially the second serve. Therefore, we think Djokovic can win this match in two sets and it will be our primary prediction. And an over 21.5 games will be our second prediction.
