Real Madrid – Atletico Madrid. Gabriele Marcotti’s prediction (VIDEO)

The prices for this game are pretty even, and It’s not hard to see why. Atletico beat Real Madrid at the Bernabeu the last time they faced each other. Atleti also have a tremendous record against Real Madrid in the last ten games, losing only once. And, of course, they put on a defensive masterclass to knock out both Barcelona and Bayern. Having said this, I still think Real Madrid are a bit underrated here. Since the aforementioned defeat to Atleti, they’ve played 17 games, won 15 of them, drew one and lost the other.

Atletico managed to get an early lead both against Barcelona and Bayern, which helped them tremendously, but without something to protect can they put on a similar showing? There’s no guarantee that they’ll get an early goal or even a lead in this game. If Real Madrid take the lead, which certainly isn’t out of the question, then things could open up for them. We could see a much different Atletico if they are tasked with chasing the game as opposed to protecting a lead.  I think Real Madrid, if they’re on it from the start, might just have too much firepower and therefore I’m going with Real Madrid to win by two or more goals, or -1 handicap. At odds of 9/2 with William Hill this looks a good bet.
