Rubin Kazan v CSKA Moscow. Thomas Giles’ prediction
CSKA go into this away match at former champions Rubin Kazan knowing all they have to do to clinch the title is win. Leonid Slutsky has done a magnificent job in juggling the management roles of both CSKA and the Russian national team.
The last time the Moscow side played in the Kazan arena they lost the Russian Cup final to Zenit however this task is far less daunting for them. Rubin are sitting in midtable after a poor season by their standards and have tailed off dramatically towards the end of the campaign as they knew they were destined for mediocrity whatever happened. Valeriy Chaly’s team have not won at home for 6 weeks and I cannot see them stopping CSKA’s title charge in this match.
I think CSKA will dominate this game and look to score early on in order to settle any nerves. After half time we are likely to see them put their foot down in order to confirm themselves as champions.
