This relegation play off sees two sides from the south of Russia go head-to-head for a play in the Premier League. These clubs are only a ten hour drive apart, I say only with all seriousness, you must understand this is in the context of Russia!

Volgar, the home side, have hovered around mid-table in the Russian National Football League for a number of years and have finally managed to break into the top 4 and secure a playoff place. They had a superb run in the league from October to March where they won eight games in a row (keep in mind that there was a winter break in this time), however, the end of the season has seen them lose momentum as they have only won one in their last six.

Anzhi somehow survived in the Russian Premier League, for now at least, after salvaging their season with a good run of recent form which included a 3-0 win over Mordovia Saransk to push them out of the division. They also performed admirably to come away with a 0-0 draw at Krylia in the last match of the season, although it must be said that the Samara side had nothing to play for.

This should make for a high scoring game as both teams have the ability to find the back of the net whilst they also have dodgy defences. However, I would expect Anzhi to come out on top here as they seem to have found some good momentum.
