West Ham United – Liverpool. Mark O’Haire’s prediction
West Ham haven’t suffered a home defeat since a 4-3 loss to Bournemouth back in August – a run of 11 games – and following the Hammers’ 1-0 loss at Southampton on Saturday has left them eight points adrift of the top-four, you’d expect Slaven Bilic to prioritise Tuesday night’s FA Cup replay.
The Londoners were 2-0 winners at home to a first-choice Liverpool side last month and they could have too much for the Reds tonight. With fixtures piling up, visiting boss Jurgen Klopp is expected to rest and rotate his weary squad once more.
The Merseysiders have failed to score in three previous meetings with West Ham this season and they’ve managed just W0-D2-L2 since a rather fortunate 5-4 victory at Norwich. On the road, Liverpool have failed to score in five of their last nine matches while conceding at least twice in six of those games.
It’s been 10 years since the Hammers beat a top-flight side in the FA Cup but the hosts have notched in 15 of their 16 Upton Park matches this term and kept clean sheets in four of their last six. Unusually, West Ham are favourites for this contest but that looks fair enough and they’re well worth supporting tat 2.60 quotes.
