Bordeaux head coach Vladimir Petković has insisted that he is happy with Gideon Mensah despite the Ghana left-back not featuring in his recent plans.

Petkovic hasn't used Mensah often since he returned from forced one week quarantine as a result of playing for Black Stars in France's red-list country, South Africa in September.

Mensah quarantined for seven days and his place has been taken, leaving him a bench role at Bordeaux.

In the last four games, Mensah has played just 21 minutes.

"Gideon Mensah had difficulties when he left with his national team (Black Stars) after he had isolation, and he left with his national team and has not played.

"These are difficult times for a player who has a significant weight. I am very happy with him, I have seen him grow in recent days. This competition with Mangas can be positive because we need to everybody," Petkovic said.

Mensah is on loan from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.

Although joining late, he adapted quickly and won himself a place in the starting lineup. He played three straight games as a starter before the troubles.
