BRAHIM DÍAZ: "AC MILAN HAVE GREAT AMBITIONS"

Published on: 11 September 2020

His arrival in Milan, the first training sessions, his San Siro debut in the friendly against Monza and now the first press conference: the Spaniard, Brahim Díaz, a fresh new AC Milan signing, was officially presented today.

FIRST THOUGHTS AND EXPERIENCES
"It’s an enormous pleasure to play for this great and historic Club. My first experience at Milanello was incredible. Training here is special, it’s an impressive sports centre with lots of facilities. The thing I’ve been most struck by is the stupendous welcome I’ve received from the fans. This Club is known worldwide and is of international stature, many footballing legends have played here. AC Milan are special and I’m proud to be a Rossoneri player."

HIS POSITION ON THE PITCH
"I’ll play where the Coach asks me to, I’m most comfortable playing in a playmaker role but will go where the Coach wants me."

THE NUMER 21
"I’ve always liked the number 21: I wore the same number when I was at Real, while it’s also been chosen by great champions who have played for AC Milan, including Zlatan."

THE FUTURE
"I don’t want to talk about my future. I’m only focused on AC Milan, enjoying a great season and reaching our objectives together."

HIS DECISION TO COME TO AC MILAN
"I had various offers but chose AC Milan because this is a great team. The people here are working as best they can to help the Club return to a position where it deserves to be. I discussed matters with Maldini and Massara, and I’m very happy."

TEAMMATES
"I have a special relationship with Samu Castillejo. I had the good fortune of being able to play with him in Malaga’s youth setup, and it’s a real pleasure to join forces and share a changing room with him again here. I still haven’t got to know Theo Hernández but will be able to, he’s phenomenal. Playing with Zlatan is incredible. He was at the Club when AC Milan last won the Scudetto and is a vital presence in the changing room and out on the pitch. With the group being so young, he’s of great help. There’s a great atmosphere and a really good team spirit in the changing room: we can do great things. This team has a winning mentality, you see this right away. We hope to continue picking up the same results that we achieved during the post-lockdown period."

AMBITIONS
"AC Milan are ambitious and don’t just have the objective of qualifying for the Champions League: the Club wants to win again. We have many objectives, but what counts are the results we achieve. Tonali’s arrival, Ibra and Castillejo remaining here… the signs are encouraging."

HIS CHARACTERISTICS, ROLE MODELS AND HIS CONDITION
"I take inspiration from many players and don’t have a single role model, although I greatly admired Andrés Iniesta’s game. I’d say that I’m a player with good technique, dribbling is one of my strong points and I can make the difference between the lines. I’m ready and feeling good physically. My objective is to give my all and do my best with this team and for this Club. Here, you can learn from anyone because everybody is strong. I’m young and can therefore only learn.”
