Relatively unknown Abdulai Alhassan has toppled incumbent Adam Munkalia as Northern Regional Football Association Chairman.

Alhassan polled a massive 49 votes as against Munkaila’s 30 to win one of the 10 regional seats on the Ghana FA Executive Committee.

The success of Alhassan brings an end the reign of Adam Munkaila who has been at the helm of football administration in the Northern Region for over two decades.

Alhassan, 35, who contested on the ticket of third tier club Al Ittifaq becomes the latest new face to confirm his seat on the Ghana FA’s Executive Committee which has already pulled some surprises.

Big names such as current GFA Vice President Fred Crentsil and AshantiGold CEO Kudjoe Fianoo have emerged as major casualties in the first back of elections into the executive committee.
