The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has indefinitely postponed its General Assembly scheduled for Cameroon next month because of the coronavirus disease that has ravaged sports organisations globally.
The 42nd General Assembly of Africa's football governing body was scheduled to be held on 24th April to discuss some of the important issues facing the game on the continent.
But following a visit of a CAF delegation to Cameroon and the report of the Medical Committee that recommended the suspension of all travels and competitions becasue of the coronavirus the leaders agreed.
The CAF Emergency Committee took the decision to postpone the meeting that would have brought together all the 54 federations.
"The Emergency Committee also decided it was necessary to postpone the planned Executive Committee and 42nd General Assembly initially scheduled on the 24th April 2020 in Cameroon," CAF acting General Secretary said in a letter to the federations on Tuesday.
"We would like to assure you that CAF is monitoring the situation closely and working with the competent authorities such as the WHO on the impact of the virus in the continent and CAF Competitions.
"CAF Administration will propose the potential new dates in due time depending on the improvement of the situation."
A new date for the meeting will be set when the situation with deadly contagious disease improves.
