Debutant Massawudu Alhassan handed starting role

Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic has named an unrecognizable squad to face Nigeria in Tuesday night's international friendly handing starts to fringe players, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Debutant Massawudu Alhassan, Mohammed Abu, Anthony Annan, Albert Adomah and Quincy Owusu Abeyie have been listed.

Alhassan, who plays for Genoa, was called-up for the first time to solve the problematic left-back position in the team.

Although he is yet to make his debut in the Serie A, the 18-year-old impressed for the Ghana Under-24 during the final All Africa Games qualifier against Nigeria's Olympic team in July.

Stromsgodset midfielder Abu has been handed a starting role after making his debut in last Saturday's win against Sudan.

Bristol City winger Albert Adomah also gets the nod on the right flank.

Speedster Owusu-Abeyie will play his first match for the Black Stars since November last year.

Combative midfielder Anthony Annan will start in place of Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu.

Striker Prince Tagoe is the lone man upfront and will be supported by Udinese ace Kwadwo Asamoah.

John Mensah captains the team and will be paired in central defence by Isaac Vorsah with John Pantsil playing as right-back.

The match will be played at 19:00 GMT at the Vicarage Road Stadium.

Starting line-up:

Adam Larsen Kwarasey, John Pantsil, Massawudu Alhassan, Isaac Vorsah, John Mensah- Anthony Annan, Mohammed Abu, Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, Albert Adomah, Kwadwo Asamoah-Prince Tagoe.
