Ghana name eight foreign-based players in final U20 squad

Ghana has been named eight foreign-based players in his final squad for the defence of their Africa Youth Championship title in South Africa this month, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

But three key Europe-based players will miss the tournament after their clubs refused to release them for the competition.

Marseille opted not to release Jordan Ayew as he is expected to help them in the tight title race in France.

Italy-based duo of Daniel Kofi Agyei (Fiorentina) and Afriyie Acquah (Palermo) will also not make the trip as they were not released by their clubs.

The Black Satellites won the last edition of the championship in Rwanda and face a difficult task in Group B against Nigeria, Cameroon and Gambia.
