The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) has directed that all sporting events be held behind closed doors with immediate effect after a spike in COVID-19 cases in the country.

The Ministry has issued a communique on Friday to that effect.

The decision will thus affect the Ghana Premier League and all other football competitions in line with the recent COVID-19 protocol by the Confederation of African Football to organise football matches without spectators.

The Government of Ghana had initially ordered football matches could be held with a 25% of capacity of match venues.

But the recent rise in the number of the COVID-19 cases has changed the situation.

Here is the statement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
