Breaking News: Ghanaian defender Patrick Kpozo joins Moldovan giants Sheriff Tiraspol
Patrick Kpozo has moved to Moldova

Ghanaian defender Patrick Kpozo has joined UEFA Champions League side Sheriff  Tiraspol of Moldova after negotiations were concluded with the agents of the experienced centre-back on Monday, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 24-year-old signed the contract on Monday after afternoon after passing a thorough medical with the ambitious side that has caused some stir in Europe this season.

He moves from the Swedish side Ostersunds FK to join Sheriff on a free transfer and boosts the club that defeated Spanish giants Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

After last season, Kpozo's contract with Ostersunds FK expired.

Now OFK, which left the Allsvenskan 2021, have confirmed that the 24-year-old winger has signed for Sheriff Tiraspol.

Kpozo thus leaves Ostersund after four and a half years.

"It is difficult to say goodbye but I have come to the point where life must move on to new challenges. The club will always be in my heart and I wish them all the best for the coming season," Kpozo said.

"I would like to thank OFK for the time I have been in the club as it has been fantastic. The supporters and the people in the city have always been important to me since I joined, and I have received the support that a player can only dream of."

The Swedish club thanked the Ghanaian centre back for his contributions to their club and blessed his deaprture to the Moldovan giants where his financial fortunes would massively improve.

"Patrick has had a very good development during his time in Ostersunds FK, where he especially during the last season showed that he is a good player with an even higher capacity. We wish him great luck with his new challenges, says OFK's football manager Stefan Lundin to the website.

Sheriff Tiraspol has won the Moldovan top league the last six seasons and was one of the big surprises of the Champions League group stage this autumn.

The team took, among other things, a shocking victory against Real Madrid.

This season, FC Sheriff finished third in his Champions League group after Real Madrid and Inter. The Moldovan club will continue to play in the Europa League.

Kpozo scored two goals and two assists in 29 matches in the Allsvenskan last season, but OFK did not manage to stay in the league.

Kpozo joined ÖFK during the summer of 2017 and was listed for a total of 51 matches with the club.
