Turmoil in Hearts of Oak as long-serving Tettey Oku resigns

Published on: 05 November 2012

Hearts of Oak's long-serving Administrative Manager Ashford Tettey Oku has resigned from the club leaving the giants in turmoil, GHANASoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

This comes just five days after the Accra-based giants sacked their coach Charles Kobina Akonnor which has angered many in the club.

Oku, respected as the finest administrator at any club in Ghana, has worked with Hearts of Oak for over 20 years helping to steer them to their two continental titles - CAF Champions League in 200o and Confederation Cup in 2004.

The sacking of Akonnor has sparked an internecine warfare in the club with executives and supporters divided over the decision.

It is not known whether Oku's decision is connected with Akunnor's sacking but the Phobians are in turmoil over recent bad results.

The massive blow of Oku's resignation hit the club just under two weeks before they play arch rivals Kotoko.

Oku's decision comes just some few weeks after ex-CEO Fred Crentsil quit the club.
