Brescia president Massimo Cellino is against the idea of resuming the Serie A season in the coming weeks.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) had admitted that they're hoping to restart matches in the country on May 20 or in June.
"They can't resume the league for many reasons," Cellino told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"There are two points in particular: the health aspect and the salvation of the football system.
"As well as losing this season, we'd ruin the next one too, which will be fundamental."
Brescia is one of Italy's worst hit cities by COVID-19 and Cellino put football into perspective.
"In Brescia, we have lorries that are taking the dead out of the city," he said.
"We're at the epicentre of the epidemic.
"If they make us play, I'm willing to withdraw my team and lose all the matches by default.
"I'd do it out of respect for the citizens of Brescia and their loved ones that have died.
"I don't care about getting relegated, we've deserved to be relegated up until now and I always have my responsibilities.
"Away from this, in order to finish Serie A in June, we'd expect impossible and dangerous rhythms.
"In order to extend the season, we'd need to change national and international rules, with contracts, payments, transfers and pre-season."
