Bruno Lage admits Wolves must be 'ready' for Ruben Neves offers

Published on: 28 April 2022

Bruno Lage has admitted that Wolves must be 'ready for anything' when it comes to the future of midfielder Ruben Neves.

Lage has already stated that he would want £100m for the Portugal international, who is ready to walk away from Molineux in the summer amid interest from a number of the game's top sides.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are all keen on Neves, but Lage has previously done his best to scare the suitors off by placing a £100m price tag on the Portugal international's head.

Lage insists he wants to keep working with him, beyond this summer but he also admits they are ‘waiting’ for offers to arrive.

"I’ve said before that the value of players like Ruben is £100m or above," he said. "We need to be aware of everything. We cannot lose a big opportunity.

"Anything can happen, not just with Ruben, and if we want to improve our squad we have to have players on our radar – the best guys at the best price.

"My chairman and sporting director already know what we need if something happens in any position."

He added: “He’s an important player but, like I said, we need to wait for an offer and we need to wait to understand what will really happen.

“Something that is good for the club, good for the player, and then we will make a decision.

“If you ask me if I want to work with Ruben, yes. If you ask the player if he wants to work for me, for sure, he will say yes.

“But this is football and you never know what can happen the next day.”
