BUNDES - Ajax thrashes Dortmund as Haller shines in match

Published on: 19 October 2021

Borussia Dortmund was in excellent form at home and in Europe heading into Tuesday's Champions League match against Ajax.

However, Marco Reus' early own goal set the tone for Marco Rose's side to have a night to forget.

Daley Blind and Antony added goals either side of halftime, while Sébastian Haller added another goal to his ludicrous debut Champions League season.

This season, the ex-West Ham striker had six goals and two assists in just three games.

Ajax announced the signing of Haller on a four-and-a-half-year contract on January 8, 2021. West Ham United was paid a €22.5 million transfer fee. Haller made his debut against De Topper rivals PSV two days later as a second-half substitute; he assisted Antony on Ajax's equalizing goal.

Ajax with the win saw them edge past Dortmund to take the lead on the Champions League table for Group C with 9 points whiles Dortmund registers with 6 pionts.
