BUNDES - Bayern's Hernandez to travel to Spain to appear in court

According to Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer, defender Lucas Hernandez will fly to Madrid to appear in court for breaking a restraining order in 2017.

A Madrid court sentenced the French international to prison on Wednesday for violating a restraining order issued after an altercation in 2017 with his then-girlfriend, who was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Both were prosecuted by Spain's public prosecutor despite neither having filed a complaint against the other.

The former Atletico Madrid footballer and his fiancée were each sentenced to 31 days of community service. They have now married and had a son.

They were also prohibited from seeing one other for the next six months.

Hernandez was sentenced to six months in jail in December 2019 for violating the restraining order after the pair arrived in Madrid after marrying in the United States.

Hernandez, who won the 2018 World Cup, has been called to appear in court on Tuesday. From October 19, he will have ten days to "voluntarily" enter jail.
