BUNDES - Haaland returns from injury, sends Dortmund top of the league

After scoring two goals in a 3-1 win over Mainz on Saturday to move Borussia Dortmund to the top of the Bundesliga overnight, Erling Haaland celebrated his triumphant return from injury with a pitch-invading fan.

Haaland, a thigh injury had kept him out of Dortmund's last four games, but he returned against Mainz to score his third brace in as many games, bringing his season total to nine league goals.

The 21-year-old then added to the excitement of the home crowd by celebrating arm-in-arm with a fan who had made it onto the pitch and gifting him his jersey.

"Erling really wanted to play and he gave everything to be on the pitch today," Dortmund coach Marco Rose told Sky.

"We really missed him, and it's great that he scored two goals. That's what he signed him for," added captain Marco Reus with a grin.

Dortmund now leads the Bundesliga table, ahead of Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, who meet on Sunday.
