BUNDESLIGA - Dortmund player gets himself into trouble with statements

Published on: 05 November 2021

Borussia Dortmund has called out the loose-lipped Marin Pongracic after his statements about the injury of team-mate Erling Haaland. Earlier, the defender was also put in place by VfL Wolfsburg. That club is renting him out this season.

Pongracic was candid during a Twitch session, but that didn't sit well with everyone. "Some statements are absolutely incorrect in terms of content. You can be sure that we will discuss this internally with Marin," says Sebastian Kehl in BILD on behalf of Dortmund. The conversation is accompanied by a fine, while Wolfsburg has already been heard through director Marcel Schäfer. It is not the first time that the defender has come under fire. He previously released a 'secret' team evening at Wolfsburg and was involved in a corona party.

"I thought we had talked to him extensively and that the theme of focus is a point that we wanted him to take more to heart. The interview shows that apparently he is still working on things that are actually shouldn't be important to him at all. He'd better ask himself how he delivers the best performance on the field," the Wolfsburg driver sneered at the footballer, who also has to do it at Borussia Dortmund with a role as a substitute.

During the conversation on Twitch, Pongracic said that his teammate Haaland will no longer be in action this year, while the club and the Norwegian had not yet released anything about it. "We will have to miss Haaland for the next eight weeks. Oh, now I said something wrong. Well, well, he is definitely out for another six weeks," said the mandekker, who also lashed out at Mark van Bommel, who did not want him at Wolfsburg. "I did not participate at eleven against eleven in training. I wanted to go to Van Bommel and tackle him."
