BUNDESLIGA - Hernandez faces jail sentence in Spain

Published on: 13 October 2021

Defender Lucas Hernandez faces legal trouble in Spain. There is even a prison sentence in the room. The Madrid criminal court 32 ordered the imprisonment of the player from FC Bayern Munich on September 14th.

In the said letter, Hernandez, whose full name is Lucas Francois Bernard Hernandez, is requested to "appear before this court on October 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m." in order to go to a correctional facility of his choice within ten days to go.

The reason for the warrant is: "Violation of a judgment or an injunction".

In February 2017, the Madrid Criminal Court 35 issued a six-month ban on contact and approach against him and his wife Amelia de la Osa Lorente. Both had quarreled in public in the same month. There were fistfights on the part of Hernandez. But the Frenchman, at that time in the service of Atletico Madrid, probably disregarded this ban.

Hernandez and his wife, with whom he had apparently reconciled at the time, flew on their honeymoon a few months later. When he returned, he was arrested at the airport, but released shortly afterwards. Both had not only disregarded the court's ban on contact, but also failed to do 31 days of community service.

Hernandez was then sentenced to one year in prison by the 35th Criminal Court in Madrid. The player's lawyers requested a suspension or replacement of the sentence with community service, but this was denied because he had not fully attended to the first 31 days of work.
