Ghana legend C.K Gyamfi is in full support of player naturalization but only if it will be beneficial to the national team.

There have been a continues debate as to whether the hustle involved when getting players of Ghanaian descent but have featured for other countries to switch nationalities as against concentrating on grooming the raw local talents for the senior national team.

The debate is further ignited when these players haven successfully secured their nationality switches don't show enough commitment to the national course.

However, three-time African Cup winner, Gyamfi believes the process is very necessary and will in the long run rather challenge the local talents to be up and doing.

"It is very good to get players no matter where they are to play for the national team especially if they play better than the ones here," the 82-year-old exclusively told GHANAsoccernet.com.

"This is because in Europe the players are more exposed to better facilities and have a better winning mentality necessary for victory.

"It also keeps the ones here on their toes because there will be competition and that is very good for any team especially whe it is the Black Stars."

Most Ghanaians appear supportive of the idea but have had cause to worry following the alleged negative antics of AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng who has been accused of picking-and-choosing games.

However majority of the Ghanaian populace have recently asked for more of such arrangements after the splendid performance of Adam Kwarasey in-between the sticks for the Black Stars in the international friendly defeat to Brazil.

Quincy Owusu-Abeyie is the other player to have successfully secured the permit to play for the Black Stars after featuring for the Dutch junior sides. He is however yet to realize the huge potential that endeared him to Ghanaians.
