CAF Confederation Cup: Amos Frimpong underlines Asante Kotoko ambition ahead of Al Hilal showdown

Captain of Asante Kotoko Amos Frimpong has emphasized on the club’s ambitions as they begin their Caf Confederation Cup group stage against Al Hilal on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors have been placed in Group C of the 2019 Caf Confederation Cup group stage alongside Zambian sides Zesco United and Nkana FC as well as Al Hilal Omdurman from Sudan.

The Kumasi-based side will begin their campaign for a place in the knockout stage with a trip to Sudan to lock horns with Al Hilal on February 3, before hosting Zesco in Kumasi on February 13.

They will head to Zambia to play Nkana on February 24 to complete the first round of the group stage.

Ahead of the trip to Sudan, skipper of the side Amos Frimpong reiterated that their ambition  is to qualify to the next stage of the competition.

"Our first priority is to qualify from our group and looking at our performance so far, if we add a little to it we can qualify,” Frimpong told FOX FM.

Kotoko, who were runners-up in the maiden edition of the competition, reached this stage for the third time in their history and second time since 2008.
