CAF Inter-club competition: Asante Kotoko, AshGold to receive $350,000 support from gov’t

Ghana’s National Sports Authority boss Professor Peter Twumasi has confirmed that government is ready to assist Ghanaian teams in the CAF Inter-club competition for the 2020/21 season with $350,000.

Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold SC will be representing Ghana in the next season's CAF Inter-club competition.

Kotoko will participate in the CAF Champions League whilst AshantiGold SC represents Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Both clubs recently confirmed their availability in writing to the Ghana Football Association who had nominated them after cancelling the 2019/20 domestic season due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

The latest cash support was disclosed by the Director-General for the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof Peter Twumasi.

“Government will give Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold $200,000 and $150,000 respectively for their qualifications to play in the Caf Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions,” he told Sikka FM.

This is not the first time the Ghana government is embarking on this support as Kotoko were beneficiaries’ f this gesture during their Caf Confederation Cup campaign in 2018.
