Former Black Stars striker Augustine Ahinful has offered an explanation to why he hasn't taken up any coaching job yet despite possessing the needed qualification.

Ahinful holds Confederation of African Football (CAF) License A coaching certificate. He earned it after securing CAF License C and B certificates respectively.

The License A certificate is the highest level of coaching license attainable and qualifies him to coach any team - either club or national - on the continent.

Despite being qualified, Ahinful has not been interested in coaching. He has seen most of his playing mates end up being coaches.

His playing mate at the Black Stars Charles Akonnor is now the head coach of the senior national team.

“I think that not all of us can be coaches but it is good to have it with you. Not all players can be good coaches,” Ahinful said on Joy FM.

“The whole process helped me to know how to manage players. The time that we started the CAF license course, I was a member of the technical committee.

He explained that he has not managed a team yet because he has a different understanding of handling teams.

"My understanding of how to handle teams may be different from how other coaches have. They need to get support. I have my way of handling things that is why I have not managed a team yet. I need to be allowed to control the technical aspect of the game.”
