CAF set to announce date of AWCON draw

Published on: 05 September 2018

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is yet to announce the date for the draw of the Africa Women's Championship to be played in November.

The host for the competition is in limbo after reports last month indicated CAF in unhappy with the level of preparation by Ghana and could strip off the country the rights.

With barely two months to the competition to kick start, 8 nations have qualified for the tournament but are yet to find the group they will be placed in.

Eight times champions Nigeria, their rivals Ghana, Equatorial Guinea who are two times winners, Cameroon, South Africa, Zambia, Algeria and Mali will know the date of the draw after CAF's general meeting on September 27th and 28th.

Meanwhile, the winners and the runners up together with the third place team will qualify for the FIFA Women's World Cup in France next year.
