Ghana responded to Uganda’s threat coming close from set pieces, with a double hit to the crossbar. Philimon Baffour met a Fatawu Issahaku corner which hit the bar before the rebound from Emmanuel Essiam also hit the crossbar.

The Ugandans began to take control of the game and Derick Kakooza nearly halved the deficit, after a quick spin and strike.

The Young Hippos has another opportunity to strike one back following a defensive mishap but goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim quickly picked the ball he initially dropped.

With fifteen minutes remain, Ghana made two quick changes with Frank Boateng replacing Percious Boah and Mathew Anim Cudjoe coming on for Patrick Mensah.
