Caleb Amankwah declines contract extension offer from Hearts of Oak

Defender Caleb Amankwah has rejected a contract extension offer from Hearts of Oak, according to local media reports.

Despite his team's lacklustre performance this season, the 25-year-old has been one of the standout players in the Ghana Premier League.

Hearts of Oak made efforts to retain Amankwah by presenting an improved monthly salary of Ghc 7,000. However, his representatives deemed the offer unsatisfactory, leading to his decision not to extend his current contract.

Amankwah's existing deal with the Accra-based club is scheduled to expire in July 2023. Speculation has been circulating that the defender has received multiple offers from European clubs, with particular interest coming from Serbia.

It has been rumoured that a Serbian club have submitted a tempting offer of $300,000 to secure the signature of the WAFA Academy graduate.

Allegedly, Amankwah has accepted this offer and intends to make a move abroad following the conclusion of the 2022/23 season.

Amankwah joined Hearts of Oak as a free transfer from Aduana Stars on March 12, 2021. Since then, he has enjoyed success with the club, having won the Ghana Premier League, two FA Cup titles, and the President's Cup.
