Callejon: Napoli fear nobody in title race

Published on: 27 December 2015

Napoli midfielder Jose Callejon has revealed the club fear no-one and are ready to fight to bring the Serie A title to Naples for the first time since 1990.

The 28-year-old helped the Partenopei to a 3-1 victory over Atalanta at the Stadio Azzurri d’Italia before the winter break, meaning the club ended the year in third place in Serie A just one point behind leaders Inter.

“We finished 2015 well, but we are living in the moment,” Callejon told the Corriere dello Sport.

“With the victory in Bergamo, we have given great joy to the fans.

“People enjoy our football and we do too. We have no fear of anyone and we want to stay calm which we can.”

The Azzurri started the season slowly under new coach Maurizio Sarri before steadily climbing up the league table.

“Earlier in the season we struggled to understand Sarri’s new methods, but it was only a matter of time before we turned things around,” he said.

“It was a necessary step because the squad were just starting to figure out what Sarri was asking of us.”
