Callum Hudson-Odoi should be fit to return when the Premier League resumes

Published on: 01 May 2020

Callum Hudson-Odoi has endured a difficult time of things in recent seasons which have halted his promising career.

The Chelsea star has talent in abundance and bigs things are expected from him over the coming years.

He ruptured his Achilles last season which forced him to miss the start of the 2019/20 term.

He has since suffered other injuries and was one of the first Premier League players to contract coronavirus.

The 19-year-old is now nearing full fitness again and will be eager to get his career back on track when the top-flight recommences.

How did Callum Hudson-Odoi get injured?

Hudson-Odoi has not played for Chelsea since their 2-2 draw with Leicester on February 1.

He then picked up a hamstring issue in training which kept him out until the league was suspended due to the pandemic.

The England forward also tested positive for the virus in mid-March but has since recovered from it.

When will Callum Hudson-Odoi be back?

Hudson-Odoi has now overcome his injury and illness problems and has been regaining his fitness while in lockdown.

He clearly has been unable to play in any warm-up games thus far to get match-fit again.

But he should available for Chelsea when the top-flight action does get back underway.

What has been said?

Following news of Hudson-Odoi’s latest injury, Frank Lampard said: “It’s tough.

“It’s frustrating for him, definitely – a young boy so keen to play, as you’d expect, and frustrating because it’s another injury for us.

“It hasn’t been spoken about that much – we’ve had probably the worst injury list of certainly the top group of the table.

“Lots of numbers injured and important players like Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek etc. It started the season that way and it’s happened again in the middle of the season.

“So we’re working against that to try and get the best results.”
