Carlisle boss Keith Curle insists he won’t rush into handing Ghanaian striker Derek Asamoah a season-long contract at the English side.

The in-form striker, aiming to continue his run of four goals in five games, is with the Blues until January 4.

Curle admits the Ghanaian’s form has been impressive but is keen to ensure that any further deal for Asamoah continues to contain performance-based incentives.

“Anything we offer Derek has still got to be heavily laden with targets,” the Carlisle boss said.

“If I give him a contract now until the end of the season does that mean he won’t score again?

“We want to give players rewards and when they get them.

“Next for Derek is can he score two goals in a game? Then he earns even better money than scoring one.”
