Carpi chase after Spain-based AC Milan midfielder

Published on: 29 January 2016

Serie A strugglers Carpi are targeting AC Milan-owned midfielder Simone Verdi, who is currently spending a spell on loan at Spanish club Eibar.

The Armeros are joint sixth in La Liga with Sevilla but the 23-year-old attacking midfielder has only made nine appearances for the Basque club so far this season.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Carpi are hoping to get Verdi on loan until the end of this season as they try to fight off relegation back to Serie B.

Verdi is a versatile player who can play in midfield and in attack and one who is strong with either foot.

His preferred position is in the attacking midfielder role behind the strikers and he played in this role last season when he was at Empoli.

The 2014-15 season was when the AC Milan-owned midfielder made most of his Serie A appearances, playing 26 times for the Azzurri, scoring a goal and assisting in two others.
