Carpi coach delighted with win over Hellas Verona

Carpi coach Fabrizio Castori was in a jovial mood following his team’s 2-1 win over Hellas Verona, jokingly expressing his desire for the season to end now following his team’s climb to 17th in Serie A.

The victory sees the Biancorossi sit outside the relegation zone for just the second time this season and the 61-year-old praised his team’s efforts.

“Too bad that the league does not end today,” he told reporters. “However we are happy to have won against a strong team.

“It was not easy to win here in Verona and we did it by showing great intensity. The guys were extraordinary, they gave everything.

“We played with heart but is isn’t over yet and we have to continue like this.”

It was a stunning Kevin Lasagna free-kick which made the difference for the Biancorossi, netting his fourth goal of the season.

While Castori was pleased with his young substitutes’ development, he was quick to quash any hype.

“He is growing a lot but still has room for improvement,” Castori added. “He will grow even further and is a very humble guy.”
