Carpi coach disappointed with Palermo draw

Carpi coach Fabrizio Castori lamented his side’s inability to see off Palermo after they drew 1-1 on Saturday afternoon in Serie A.

The Biancorossi came from behind after Matteo Mancosu’s penalty cancelled out Alberto Gilardino’s first half strike but were ultimately unable to push ahead for the win.

“The point has left a bad taste in my mouth,” he admitted to Sky Sport Italia in a post-game interview. “My team did not play to their best.”

“We lost a lot of balls in the first half, then conceded a goal that made things a little more complicated. In the second half, we risked being caught on the counter-attack but we were close to winning.”

The draw extended Carpi’s unbeaten run to a club record five Serie A games, but they remain four points behind the safety line having not been out of the drop zone since early October.
