Carpi coach praises commitment after Atalanta draw

Fabrizio Castori regrets missed opportunity as Carpi stumbled to a 1-1 draw at home to Atalanta.

The hosts needed a 75th minute penalty to level the score at 1-1 and win a point in their race for survival.

“We approached the game well with great aggression and pace,” Castori told Radio Rai. “We played with four strikers to counter-attack and try and break the deadlock. Unfortunately we could not do that until the penalty.

“We are not demoralized with the point, as the commitment and drive to win was evident until the final whistle.

“In the second half, we were dangerous and Simone Verdi’s goal meant that we came away with something. We are sorry we couldn’t snatch the win.”

Carpi take on Bologna in their next game and need all the points they can get.

“This week, we prepare for the derby against Bologna and we will fight with all we have to win for the fans.”
