Cassano: I am making sacrifices

Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano has admitted that he had demons but is now making sacrifices he’d have never made before.

The 33-year-old returned to the Blucerchiati in the summer and has become a mainstay in Vincenzo Montella’s side.

“I had many demons inside of me,” the forward told Sky Sport Italia.

“But when you become a father and have a family, it changes your life. Everything changes for the better.

“I returned to Samp and had a few problems with my training, with Walter Zenga, many situations that weren’t going the right way.

“Then Vincenzo Montella arrived, who said we’d all start on an even playing field, and I made the kind of sacrifices I’d never made in my life before. Now we can see the results.”

Sampdoria host pace-setters Napoli on Sunday afternoon and Cassano reiterated the importance of stifling Gonzalo Higuain and Lorenzo Insigne.

“Against Inter they had various difficulties without them,” added the Italian.

“They are two phenomenal players.”
