Ghana midfielder Isaac Cofie came off the bench to score a face-saving goal for Chievo Verona when they suffered a 2-1 reverse at Fiorentina in the Serie A on Sunday.

Cofie, 21, replaced Francesco Acerbi just after the half-hour mark after the Italy international had suffered an injury.

The former Genoa starlet immediately made his presence count by levelling the scoring for his side seven minutes after coming in.

Cofie initiated an attack from the middle and found Roberto Guana who in turns laid a low cross for Cofie to connect home with powerful low drive to settle the scoring.

But Chievo were unable to hold onto the point as Argentine international Marcelo Larrondo snatched a 78th minute winner for La Viola.

This is Cofie's second Serie A goal of the season.
