Ghana midfielder Michael Essien impressed for his English side Chelsea as they cruised to a comfortable 4-1 win over a Malaysia XI on Sunday in Kuala Lumpur in the English side's pre-season preparation.

The powerhouse midfielder was one of the bright spots in the Chelsea team that sealed the friendly win in Kuala Lumpur.

Goals from Bertrand Traore,  De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Victor Moses made it 4-0 before the hosts grabbed a late consolation.

But the Ghanaian's performance has delighted fans of the English side as they continued their pre-season preparation.

The win makes it two wins from two games so far in their pre-season tour after a 1-0 win over a Singha All Star team last week.

After a raft of substitutions, they had to wait until the 89th minute for Victor Moses to get their fourth before Fadhli Shas got a stoppage time consolation for Malaysia.

The Blues were in action at the Shah Alam Stadium on Sunday for the second game of their Far East tour.

Some more suspect goalkeeping from Mohd Farizal allowed Victor Moses to notch a fourth goal on 89 minutes after an excellent pass from Josh McEachran.

The Blues now move on to play an Indonesian All-Stars side in Jakarta next Thursday
