Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah advertised one of the best defensive displays in the French top-flight as he helped Evian TG to snatch a vital away point from title-hopefuls AS Monaco in a 1-1 draw on Friday night.Ã
Mensah, playing just his second game after returning from a 4 week injury lay-off did enough to contain the attacking prowess of Jamesà RodrÃguez as well as the venomous Falcao.
Evian went ahead in the 20th minute through Danish forward Daniel Wass who bombed through the hosts defence with an explosive pace before shooting home for goal.
Falcao stole the leveller for Monaco seven minutes later after picking a nice pass from Jamesà RodrÃguez but the steadfastness of Jonathan Mensah and his marshal instincts in defence ensure Evian emerged out of theà Stade Louis II. with a crucial away point.
The Black Stars center-back walked straight into the starting line-up after recovering from injury and he appears into shape.
However, Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah left him out of his team to face Egypt on November 19 in the second-leg of the 2014 World Cup qualifying play-off.
