Ghanaian striker Ekuban signs four-year deal with Leeds United

English Championship side Leeds United signed Ghanaian striker Caleb Ekuban from Italian club Chievo Verona for an undisclosed fee on Tuesday, confirming Ghanasoccernet.com's exclusive revelation last month.

The 23-year-old agreed a four-year contract to move to the Championship outfit.

Ghana's leading soccer news outfit Ghanasoccernet.com exclusively revealed last month that Ekuban was on the verge of moving to Leeds from the Albanian top-flight league.

Ekuban put pen-to-paper on a four-year contract after completing a medical today, becoming United’s sixth arrival of the transfer window.

The 23-year-old forward travelled to England from Italy last night and has signed in time to travel with Leeds on their pre-season tour of Austria later this week.

A product of Chievo’s youth system, Ekuban spent last season on loan in Albania with FK Partizani, for whom he played in the the Champions League and Europa League preliminary rounds.

He made 34 appearances in the Kategoria Superiore for Partizani, scoring 17 goals, as the club finished runners-up in the division.

Ekuban could feature for the Whites for the first time in Wednesday’s friendly clash with North Ferriby United and will travel to Austria on the squad’s pre-season tour later this week.

United were anxious to strengthen their strikeforce ahead of the new Championship season having relied heavily on Chris Wood’s 30-goal haul last term.

Wood is back in training after an extended break and he and Ekuban will make the trip to Austria on Friday.
