The Egyptian Football federation has proposed new measures guiding the recruitment of foreign footballers in the different championships organized by the FA.

The FA has adopted an approach aimed at reducing the number of foreign players in the North African nation.

Henceforth topflight clubs will be allowed to register only four foreign players instead of the previous number of five foreign players.

In the same vain ,second tier clubs will be allowed to contract and register just two foreign players, a player less than it was before the institution of the new conditions.

The new rule equally goes back to the rules adopted nine months ago allowing one non-Egyptian north African and a Syrian per club without reducing the foreign players quota.

The FA has decided to scraps the special consideration and classify all non-Egyptians as foreign players.

Al Ahly,Zamalek and Pyramids with five foreign players each will have to find a way to trim their foreign personnels before next season.

The new law enter application from next season but Mahmoud Dia of Goal.com does not subscribe the option.

“We have a lake of talents here. In the last few years most clubs have preferred to sign foreign players which reduces the chance for Egyptian players, I think this could be the reason behind the decision.

Having said that, it is not very good, the best option is to invest in academies to groom more talents. Egyptian clubs need foreigners to compete in champions league and Confederation cup”: Mahmoud concluded.

The Egyptian Premier League has been off since last month following the outbreak of the CoronaVirus pandemic.

The resumption of the championship is uncertain but for now one aspect is certain;there will be fewer foreign players next season.
