Cerezo: With Antic, Atletico Madrid sought stability and he made us champions

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has paid homage to Radomir Antic, following the Serbian's death on Monday.

Antic coached Atletico in their double-winning season in 1995/96, where they lifted LaLiga Santander and the Copa del Rey, while he is the only coach to have taken charge at Spain's big three of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico.

"Radomir was a great coach and a great person," Cerezo recalled when discussing Antic.

"When we appointed him, we were looking for a coach who would give us stability and he made us champions."

When asked about his best Antic memory, Cerezo pointed out the Serbian's class.

"Antic had a magic inside of him that made him special," he said.

"The greatest memory I have of him is that after leaving Atletico, he was always a gentleman and never had a bad word to say."
