Chad head coach Sherif Al-Khashab has revealed he voted for Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan as his pick for the 2010 Caf Player of the Year award.

The Egyptian was explaining why he did not vote for compatriots Ahmed Hassan and Mohammed Geddo for the continental gong.

Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba and Inter Milan and Cameroon talisman Samuel Eto'o made his top three list in that order.

"Gyan, Drogba and Eto'o ply their trade at high-profile clubs. Football in Europe is completely different than in Egypt. They also helped their respective countries reach the 2010 World Cup and were in good form during the competition," Al-Khashab told Filgoal.com

"My choices are based on credibility and reasonable assessment of the candidates. My feelings have nothing to do with this.

"I could have picked Ahmed Hassan and Geddo as first and second choice, but it wouldn't be honest. I also could have kept my choices undisclosed but I'm not afraid of anyone."

Caf will name the winner of this year's award at a ceremony in Cairo next month.
