CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - Full Time: PSG 2 - 2 MANCHESTER CITY

Published on: 06 April 2016

Manchester City will be the happier of the two sides following a 2-2 draw with PSG in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Parc des Princes tonight.

Ibrahimovic had the chance to give PSG the lead from the penalty spot after David Luiz was brought down in the area by Bacary Sagna, but Joe Hart saved the resultant spot kick. The miss looked as though it may prove costly after Kevin de Bruyne then gave City the lead with a well struck shot in the 38th minute. However, Manuel Pellegrini's side could hold onto the lead for just 3 minutes, as Ibrahimovic capitalised on defensive uncertainty between Hart and Fernando, intercepting a pass from the latter that then deflected into an unguarded net in the 41st minute.

The second half saw more chances at both ends of the pitch, but it was Manchester City who capitalised when a Bacary Sagna cross was not dealt with effectively by the PSG defence and Fernandinho slowly turned the ball home via a deflection. PSG were unable to make any further impression and the game ended with honours even at 2-2, keeping the tie finely poised ahead of the second leg next week.

The second leg takes place at the Etihad on Tuesday April 12th.
