Charles Takyi downcast over dad's death

Would-be Ghana international Charles Takyi says he is experiencing mixed emotions following the death of his father.

His father, Kwabena, passed away four days before the birth of his first child Zoe Presley Abenaa Serwaa.

This has been bittersweet news for the 26-year-old who plays for German second-tier side St. Pauli.

"Four days before the birth of my first child, my father died. The only times you have to handle everything. It was a roller coaster of emotions. I was torn. Now I can talk about it," Takyi said.

Takyi was born in Accra to Ghanaian parents but has played for Germany as a youth international.

He has applied to Fifa for a nationality switch.
