Charles Takyi relishes playing for Ghana

Former Germany youth international Charles Takyi says it will be a "dream come true" to represent Ghana at senior level.

The 26-year-old has written to the world governing body to approve his decision to play for his country of birth.

"It's a long procedure that hopefully will soon reach its end. Fifa will have to determine whether I am eligible to play for Ghana. Before, I had to make an inquiry with the Football Association, that I may be released after appearances for the German youth teams," the St. Paul player said.

The Ghana FA has supplied the necessary documents to help in completing the switch.

President Kwesi Nyantakyi is pushing for all players available to play for the country to commit to the Black Stars.

Takyi, born in Accra to Ghanaian parents, could be handed a surprise debut call-up for next month's double header against Sudan and Nigeria.

He currently plays in the German second-tier league but was featured in the Bundesliga last term.
