Charlton Athletic majority shareholder Tahnoon Nimer and chairman Matt Southall appear locked in a boardroom row at the Championship club.

East Street Investments completed its takeover of the Addicks in January from controversial owner Roland Duchatelet.

But Southall has claimed Nimer has failed to invest "a single penny of the promised funds" since then.

Nimer has also hinted on social media that he will withdraw his Abu Dhabi-based interest in the club.

The post on Nimer's Instagram account was later deleted.

In a lengthy club statement, Southall accused Nimer of threatening the senior management team with legal action "if they did not comply with his demands".

Disagreements between the pair appear to centre around awarding manager Lee Bowyer a new contract in January as well as Nimer's attempts to appoint a new chief executive.

Charlton are third from bottom in the Championship, two points adrift of safety and on a run of three successive defeats.

"It is a crucial time of the season and it would seem appropriate that all the stakeholders direct their efforts in support of the team and the club," Southall said.

"Therefore, it is disappointing that the majority shareholder should act in such a manner."

Nimer and Jonathan Heller were appointed directors of Charlton in January with Southall becoming chairman.

Southall also stated how he and Heller have passed the English Football League's owners' and directors' test, but Nimer has "yet to satisfy the EFL in respect of the source of his funds, despite numerous requests made and a number of deadlines that have been ignored by him".

"To date, not a single penny of the promised funds has been provided," Southall claimed. "The board will continue to make decisions in the best interests of club, its fans, its players and its staff with the full support of the dedicated and loyal senior management team."

The BBC has contacted the EFL for comment on the claims Nimer had not yet passed the owners' and directors' test.
